Q) What is LIS?
Land Information System (LIS) is high-performance Earth modeling software that simulates hydrological and energy cycles by integrating various meteorological and environmental data. LIS utilizes satellite data, observational data, and data assimilation techniques to help analyze and understand hydrological and physical processes occurring at the land surface. It is widely used in various fields including analysis of natural disasters such as climate change, drought, and floods, as well as hydrological environmental prediction and water resource management. Our lab conducts high-resolution hydrological modeling research of the Korean Peninsula using LIS, and carries out research analyzing Earth's water budget and hydrological variables based on various meteorological data and land surface models.
