Q) What role does satellite imagery play in policy decision-making?
Unlike the past when satellite imagery was primarily used for engineering and military purposes, there has been a recent increase in cases where satellite imagery is used for humanistic purposes, such as analyzing national economies and predicting global crop yields. In Korea as well, attempts are being made to utilize satellite information for map creation, policy decision-making and implementation. I am conducting research that monitors landfill and point-use facilities occurring in shared water areas using time-series satellite imagery, thereby assisting in decision-making for related policy formulation and implementation.
